Couture Hats Photoshoot

Yesterday's location was amazing! A old style theatre where we shot couture hats made by the millinery students at Leeds College of Art.

How awesome was the hair and make-up?! I felt like a 1920's woman, filming on a set with luxurious dresses and show stopping hats, but with mad, quirky make-up to act as a contrast. Shooting 10 hats meant it was a long day. But from the behind the scenes pictures I think it looks pretty good, I'll be posting the final, edited images on my Facebook page when I get them. Keep a look out over the next week or so to see them! (www.facebook.com/kirstybuttlemodelling)

Leeds Fashion Show Casting

So today, I finally plucked up the courage and auditioned for Leeds Fashion Show! I've wanted to audition so many times, but for some reason I've always chickened out. It's the most prestigious show, in the whole of the North I would say! The event draws in some prestigious sponsors, the models are always amazing and the turn out is never shy of a full room.

This year it's bigger and better than ever! With new fashion magazine, Voir on board, along with the support of international magazine Urban Coco the whole thing has shot to a new level. The new Trinity centre in Leeds was the location of the casting. Huge boards with previous 'Model of The Year' winners were the forefront of the space. When I arrived there were LFS representatives handing out application forms to many models. There was at least 10 models, male and female all there at the same time as myself. Hundreds of models will have applied, and so to get through would be an amazing accomplishment. It makes it difficult to get your hopes up as there are so many great models out there. I have been told I have a strong walk, which hopefully will set me out from the crowd.

The brief for the clothing was to wear something simple and fitted, although Urban Coco have said that they will feature the top 20 best dressed models in their next issue. I decided to go down the middle and go for something simple and chic. A crisp, white trouser suit, with black strappy sandals oozing a masculine edge. I decided to keep my hair away from my face with a bun and natural make-up. When I filled out my application form, I had my photo taken holding a piece of paper with my name on against a wall with a height scale on. Nervously waiting, people would peer around the screen whenever the music came on, as it meant one of the auditionees was walking. 'Kirsty Buttle?' I was up.

Introducing myself to the panel, I could feel my hands sweating! But everyone was really lovely and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. 'Just walk when the music starts, starting at the back, to the front, then back again.' When I get up out of the chair to take my place on the practice runway, I suddenly feel at ease. Taking a deep breath I turn around and face the judges. The music starts. I walk. Head up, shoulders back, just one foot in front of the other.

Not giving much away, I shook their hands and left feeling nervous but satisfied with my audition. I will know within ten days if I made it through. So keep your fingers crossed for me and keep an eye on my page for the result!

Bujourzee Studio Shoot

The most recent photoshoot I've done was for the opening a new studio in the centre of Leeds. Bujourzee is a fantastic new place situated only a few minutes away from the Bus station, opposite Birds Yard for all of you 'in the know-ers.'

I was invited to model by Jyoti, the editor in chief of Leeds' newest fashion magazine 'Voir.' Her recommendation of myself saw me being a model for their new website, and for promotion on their social media sites. I was surprised when I first saw the place. Currently undergoing renovation, the space that is available is amazing. Mounted mirrors surrounded by wall lights for makeup artists to work their magic. Studio space set across various floors and a mezzanine level consisting of a gradually building wardrobe, which is going to be perfect for the ultimate styling sessions. The service offered by Bujourzee is the ultimate photoshoot experience. A day filled with pampering, styling, makeup and hair all designed to make you feel like a professional model. With packages varying in price, you can experience personal photoshoots, memories to remember with friends, or if you're really daring you can opt for a boudoir shoot. A professional approach to creating a sexy and sultry atmosphere, capturing your ability to reveal your inner naughtiness.

I loved my hair and make-up for this shoot! Going to Nando's afterwards, I was definitely going to be the most glamorous looking one there! :)
A subtle brown smokey eye and pinned up curly hair, made me feel like a 1920's pin up model, inspiring the men at war to fight! Working with Amber & Clare was a blast, so much fun! The pair were so funny which made it so much easier to relax into the shoot and start snapping straight away. 'Make love to the camera!' Amber shouted playfully. It's so much better when everyone at the shoot can have a laugh and a joke, it creates such a strong atmosphere. They even had me on top of a wardrobe at one point! This was also the first time that my boyfriend Steve had seen me in action. He's the one usually dropping me off and picking me up, but this time he got to see what happens on a photoshoot. He also did an amazing job getting some behind the scenes shots and some cheeky videos of me in action! This did make me slightly more nervous, but it was nice for him to see what a photoshoot actually entails. Plus we were invited for a couples shoot, so keep your eyes peeled for that! ;)

Definitely check out Bujourzee on Facebook and keep your eyes and ears open around Leeds, no doubt you'll get wind of this fabulous new studio in the very near future.

I have also entered their model competition to be the face of the brand, so keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck!
